Gregory T. Kunkel has dedicated his legal career to fighting for the rights of injured and disabled working people.
Mr. Kunkel regularly represents individuals in workers' compensation, social security disability, employment rights, and criminal matters. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Kunkel worked for a large Pittsburgh-based law firm representing management in all aspects of labor and employment law. In 1993, Mr. Kunkel decided that he would rather represent people than large corporations and decided to open his own law firm and limit his practice to representing injured and disabled people. More recently, Mr. Kunkel expanded his practice to include the representation of individuals accused of driving under the influence as well as other criminal matters and works on a part-time basis for the Fayette County Public Defender's Office.
He was class co-counsel in Walton v. Farmer's Dairy Foods, Inc., a gender discrimination class action filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania which resulted in a $1.25 million dollar settlement for the plaintiffs. Mr. Kunkel also served as lead class counsel in Ivanac v. Langeloth Metallurgical Company, another gender discrimination class action filed in the Western District of Pennsylvania, that resulted in a $500,000.00 settlement for the plaintiffs.
Mr. Kunkel obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, cum laude, in 1988 where he served as a member of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. Mr. Kunkel is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the United States District Courts for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Southern District of Ohio, and the Northern District of Ohio as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Sixth Circuit.
n April 2022, Mr. Kunkel successfully completed a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSA) course and has been certified in DWI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. This is the same exact training provided to police in Pennsylvania and across the country. In addition, Mr. Kunkel was in the first group of attorneys to be certified as a specialist in the practice of workers' compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Section on Workers' Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. I
Mr. Kunkel has also been invited to speak on employment rights issues by various continuing legal education organizations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Mr. Kunkel resides with his family in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. . He enjoys golf, sports, reading, and traveling with his family. Mr. Kunkel is the author of two books: The Injured Worker's Survival Guide, a consumer's guide to the Pennsylvania workers' compensation system, and The Six Keys To Proving Your Social Security Disability Case.
